There are three books.
“The Paradox of the twins” is the second novel by Svetlana Yeremeyeva. In the first novel “After Long Days” (2019), the author turned to the distant history of ancient Sumerian civilization. This time we are talking about the near future, about the 2080s. Svetlana Yeremeyeva, reflecting on the futurological predictions of Raymond Kurzweil, is trying to imagine how the civilization of the “singular people” can be (the appearance of which Kurzweil expects in the 2060s) It shows the world of citizens of the zone of tolerance, closely connected to computer systems that enable people to live forever. This is a world in which insensitive, fragmented individuals only consume and do not create anything. On the stage in theaters, fembots and gynoids play, the films are involved in digital-models, books, music, paintings, computer programs write. But one of the inhabitants of this digital world, Alex Crane, goes against the system and wants to return to the origins. The famous British actor from the past, Peter Davis, helps Alex to become what people were before. He teaches her to feel, experience emotions, love ... Together with feelings, pain, a feeling of loss, fear return. But the singular man comes to the conclusion that it is better to suffer, to feel not free, to die. .. than to live forever in a world where people are no longer needed by each other.
