According to the author, it was based on "bright flashes of consciousness", illuminating his childhood, years in Paris and New York, recent trips to Italy, France, Spain, Mongolia, Abkhazia and other countries. The book is published in the author’s version. Spelling is brought into line with the modern norms of the Russian language. The cover on the cover was taken by a photograph for the Schengen visa in January 2020, the signature is Eduard Limonov
