The first book of the trilogy of Konstantin Simonov saw the light in 1960. The novel “Living and Dead” was a deafening success in the Soviet Union and was already filmed in 1964. The author of the novel was not only a talented writer, but also a military correspondent during the war years, because the book has no place for the fiction. The trilogy is included in the list of “100 books on the history, culture and literature of the peoples of the Russian Federation recommended by schoolchildren for independent reading.” The first part of the trilogy is written on the basis of front notes K.M. Simonova and in many ways echoes the author’s personal experience.
