The stories and novels of Chekhov, written and published from 1883 to 1891, are a creative illustration of the development of the author’s talent. In short jokes, scenes and humor, published in the early 1880s, Chekhov forms his special satirical view of social stratification and makes fun of bureaucracy and clergy. By the end of the decade, acute humor gives way to pessimism - works of this time are developing the idea of loneliness, "abandonment" of modern generation to the author.
Satirics of Kukryniksi (a creative group that included Mikhail Kupriyanov, Porfiry Krylov, Nikolai Sokolov) create a series of drawings that emphasize and complement Chekhov"s humor.
