The very short life of the classic of Russian and world literature Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860-1904) was restored by his biographers up to almost a day. And literary critics disassembled each of his stories, a story and play, finding the time molecules in them, the signs of contemporaries and - most importantly - the face of Chekhov, now and then the plots appearing through the plots. The story "Steppe" called the writer"s autobiographical brother. The story "Three years" makes us recall the famous Chekhov phrase on how a person "drops a slave from himself in a drop." The surnames are deciphered, prototypes and real events are calculated. We now know: Julia Sergeevna is looking at the picture of Isaac Levitan "Quiet abode", in the Philharmonic Lapteva listens to the ninth symphony of Beethoven, and Anton Rubinstein conducts the orchestra. But is that the point? The fact is that he still runs ahead of the steam locomotive. It"s just amazing. It seems that so many new books have already been written, for the twentieth century has long been over (having brought such shocks as Chekhov did not dream), the twenty -first century will soon pass in the first twenty, there is no steam locomotive, and you open Chekhov and - OP! - He is again ahead "(Dmitry Vodennikov)
