Twelve years ago Narcoptic Sarah, Film Fannate Terry, manic researcher Gregory and romantic Robert They lived in the gloomy mansion of Ashdown, where the clinic for the treatment of sleep disorders is now located. Life scattered them in different directions, but they are still connected by strong threads of insomnia and dreams. After a series of strange events, extremely reminiscent of a confusing dream, all four are again in Eshdown and start a plot spring, which is thought out with such thoroughness that most modern novels look in comparison with the “house of sleep” sketching beginner impressionists. Jonathan Cow is a wonderful storyteller, he subordinates his novels to a single plan, when absolutely everything: random meetings, the sudden appearance of commemorative objects - turns out to be tightly fitted at the end, and the most frivolous conversations are endowed with great meaning
