The book includes the two best works of the famous Japanese writer Terus Takakura. The historical novel “Hakon Water” tells about the epoch -making event of the XVII century. - The construction by the forces of the peasant community of the grandiose irrigation structure - the tunnel through the mountain of Hokiyama, which allowed to bring water to the hitherto barren lands. Against the background of an unprecedented event, the writer managed to give a remarkably complete picture of the Japan of the Tokugawa era. The novels are peasants and citizens, samurai and bandits - thugs, Buddhist monks, powerful feudal lords and the state itself represented by their officials. In 1952 The novel Hakocako Water was filmed under the name Storm in the Hacocon Mountains.
