Takeo Arisima (1878–1923) was born in a family of noble samurai, brought up
In a strict Confucian tradition, but, at the insistence of his father, taught English
Language. He graduated from the PERS School for children of aristocrats, then
Agricultural College at Tokaydo, and in 1903 he left for the USA, where since 1904

married, but six years later his wife died of tuberculosis, leaving him three

Reciprocity. Her husband became aware of this, and on June 9, 1923. Takeo Arishima
