The novel in letters represents the story of the family, counting its pedigree from the sister of Nikolai Gogol. The main character of the novel is the cousin of the Russian writer and even his complete namesake, which instilled in his relatives the hope that the immortal "dead souls", not added by the classic of Russian literature, would be added to them and change the further course of history.
Roman "Return to Egypt" brought the author in 2014 the Russian Bouquer, "Student Bouquer" and "Big Book", and in 2015 - the Prize "Writer of the Year".
This novel is not only about Gogol, but about a few confused generations who do not know where they are going. The life of heroes is one way or another correlated with the biblical book of the outcome, hence the name
