It is difficult to find a person unfamiliar with the plot of the famous opera Jakomo Puccini "Madame Butterfly". The Japanese writer Rei Kimur reproduces this story in the first part of her novel, but deprives it of a tragic end: the former Geisha, who gave birth to a son from an American naval officer, does not die, but continues to live in the hope of seeing his son, who grows up in distant America.
Will she wait for her dream? What events in her life take place over many years of languid expectation? Rea Kimur writes about this in his deeply touching and sincere narrative, forcing the reader to empathize with the suffering mother until the finale
