Guy de Maupassant, according to his own statement, burst into literature as a meteor and disappeared from it with a blow of thunder. He wrote about what he knew and saw - and thanks to the writer"s vigilance and sophistication of style, he created an amazing picture of the life of the human soul. His skill and psychologism was admired by contemporaries and literary heirs. “There was hardly a different writer,” Lev Tolstoy noted, “so sincerely believed that everything is good, the whole meaning of life is in a woman, in love ... And there was hardly a writer who showed so clarity and accuracy. All the terrible aspects of the very phenomenon that seemed to him the highest and give the greatest good of life. And Isaac Babel in his story "Gui de Maupassan" said about his books as follows: "Twenty -nine firecrackers filled with pity, genius, passion." Maupassant died young, leaving us six novels, more than three hundred short stories, hundreds of essays and travel notes. It was the novels who were brought to him by the stomach, the small part of which is this collection.
