“Profession: Reporter” is a collection of the best articles by Elizabeth Jane Kokran (aka Nelly Bly), the founder of the genre of journalistic investigation and one of the first correspondent in history. You are waiting for the adventures in the “Tinder” of the late 19th century and the Harassment in New York parks, the investigation of a compulsory psychiatric treatment system, a description of the pokar labor of packets in the factory, exposing fake hypnotist and the sale of infants. She drew attention to the injustice, inhibition of the weak and distress of women and eventually achieved changes in American society - for example, her text “Ten Days in a Mad House” provoked the reform of psychiatric institutions. Contemporaries called her Lady Sensation for the ability to find outstanding stories, although for this she sometimes had enough to take a closer look at others or pretend to be someone who goes beyond the norm. For the first time published in Russian, the Bly investigations shed light on the origins of new journalism and show that many problems discovered have not lost relevance to this day
