The name of the playwright Alexander Remez (1954-2001) is known today by few. The collection included his plays of the 1970s, the early and most fruitful creative of the author. Despite their high assessment of the directors (A. Vasiliev, I. Raichelgauz, etc), they remained outside the official culture for a long time and were almost not put. As the author of the preface A. Vasiliev notes, Remes “wrote boldly, used the plots that, in those days, no one used from fear or shame.” The dramaturgy of Remeza was unique to the Soviet cultural context: his plays are equally far from both the socio-household tradition and from the lyrical, they paved the way for another, existential theater. In the plays of Remeza there are complex intellectual motifs, and the deep psychology of a person, and the dynamism of the action. There is also genuine drama, which brings the fate of the author closer to the fate of his heroes.
