Poetic collections of Joseph Brodsky “Stop in the desert”, “End of the beautiful era”, “part of speech”, “new stans by August”, “Urania” and “Landscape with a flood” for a long time remained inaccessible to Russian readers, except for “Samizdat” . In the 1970-1990s, these books were published by the American publishing house Ardis. Brodsky gratefully wrote that Karl Profer, one of the founders of Ardis, managed to maintain the continuity of the development of Russian literature and its high significance, to save many Russian writers and poets from oblivion.
The collection Part of the speech, first published in 1977, includes poems written by Brodsky in the last months of life in his homeland and in the first years of emigration. The New Stances collection by August was published in 1983, it included poems of 1962-1982.
This publication prints such well -known works as “Letters to the Roman Friend”, “Lullabies of Cod Cape”, “Sitting”, “Twenty Sonets to Maria Stuart”, “Come out of love, overcome by Martobobrabi ...”, Winter Mail and others
