1982. During the search, the KGB officers confiscate the novel by Alexandra Yuryevna Polezhaeva, which tells the story of the dissident of Rylevsky, who had served the term for the propagation and distribution of the then prohibited "Archipelago Gulag". In one of the characters of the novel, the KGB Major reads himself, he scares him that he is assigned the role of a double agent and that not only he alone can see his resemblance to the hero of Roman Pervushin. To take away possible suspicions from himself, he needs to destroy the novel earlier than one of the colleagues reads it. During the search, a document was found that allows you to arrest Alexander Yuryevna, Rylevsky and their friends. Having sent his subordinates to escort the arrested, the major burns a novel. The novel, which we read with Major KGB Pervushin, consists of five chapters, each of which corresponds to one day. Character stories - from dissidents to gabists and camp employees - are intertwined. Alexandra Yuryevna tries to see a person in everyone and understand his position.
