Dmitry Bykov- prose writer, poet, publicist, radio and television journalist. His lectures of the “Direct Speech” cycle are enormous. The author of many novels and the original literary biographies of Boris Pasternak, Bulat Okudzhava, Maxim Gorky, Vladimir Mayakovsky. Twice Laureate of the Big Book Prize.
In Leningrad, 1926, they laugh hysterically, frantically starving, selling their souls for a cutlet, getting used to the power of the Chekists - and believe anyone who can give hope in a collapsed world. The perfect atmosphere for the appearance of a fraudster is much more dangerous than Ostap Bender. The Masonic circle, starting like a simple scam, becomes a model of mankind and pushes morality with mud, lies with faith, squalor with nobility. The plot of the novel by Dmitry Bykov is based on the history of the “affairs of the Leningrad Masons” in the mid-1920s. “Ostromov, or a student of a sorcerer” is the final part of “O-trilogy.”
This is the story of two real people who have never met in their lives. One is Boris Ostromov-Kirichenko, who tried to establish Soviet Freemasonry. He seems to be an adventurer and provocateur, but he knew something. The second is Daniil Zhukovsky (in the novel - Galitsky), the son of Adelaide Hermtsyk. It seems he was a saint. This novel was probably the most difficult for me, but it turned out to be a manual for levitation. If the reader flies away at least half as far as the author flew in the process, then everything worked out. ATTENTION! Only on an empty stomach can be lamented in the presence of an experienced leader.
