Like other works of the author, this book is largely autobiographical. But this time it is not just part of the life of her main character Mikhail Levin. This is a confession of the wise father, who lost his daughter. The fate of the tragically deceased Zhenya, a talented poetess, forces Levin to feel a sense of repentance, blame herself in the death of his daughter. He mentally talks with Zhenya, turns to God, tries to understand himself and explain to others why Zhenya died.
