The new story of Polina Breiter refers the reader to the problems of religious and philosophical, solved at the human level and designed to reconcile the goodness of the Divine with the existence of evil in the world. The imperfection of man, his sinfulness, as a manifestation of evil of metaphysical, suffering as the realization of evil of physical - and wisdom, beauty and rightness of the world of harmony are connected into a single high range of immanent internal freedom of man. The dying heroine of the story sorting out the notes of her life, events and people and tries to justify this world, which seems to her perfect. The most difficult maces of the world philosophy of Theodicia - from Leibniz and to Paranets, are skillfully woven into the artistic fabric of the story, the text is full of allusions and reminiscences for masterpieces of world culture - the music of Bach and Mozart, films of Tarkovsky and Parajanov, verses by Akhmatova and Pasternak
