The collection “Normal History” includes the articles and essays of Vladimir Sorokin, written and published in 2010. In non -artistic prose, the author does not change his favorite topics: food and drink as manifestations of a national character, Moscow and Berlin, the interpenetration of life and literature. From small notes, the exact portrait of the two thousandth, inexorably becoming an era, woven from the details of Stil and everyday life, is loosened. Particular attention is worthy of the texts about the artistic environment of the eighties, which formed Sorokin as a writer. Calling the last decade of the existence of the USSR “explosive time”, when “the process began to crowd the state”, Sorokin shows how the habitual picture of the world was then rapidly tearing out the scope of the framework.
