Venedikt Erofeev is a bright and ambiguous phenomenon in Russian literature. His famous poem “Moscow -Petushki”, written back in 1970, is a kind of philosophical parable, a work outside of time, because Erofeev created his world in the book, his universe, in the center of which is “man, as a place of meeting of all the plans of being” . For the first time appeared on the pages of the magazine “Sobriety and Culture” in 1988, the poem “Moscow -Petushki” became a genuine revelation for readers and was later translated into many languages of the world.
In this edition, this masterpiece of Erofeev is published, accompanied by detailed comments by Eduard Vlasov, who, like the poem itself, can rightfully be called encyclopedia of Soviet life. Published for the first time in 1998, comments by E.Yu. Vlasov has since been repeatedly reprinted. In them, readers will find not only the explanations of many realities of the Soviet past, but also the deciphering of hints, allusions and reminiscences, which are filled with the poem “Moscow -Petushki”
