Mikhail Larionovich Mikhailov was born on January 3, 1829 in Ufa in the family of a native of serfs. Early Ositev, in 1846 he enters the University of St. Petersburg, where he meets N.G. Chernyshevsky. Later, Chernyshevsky admitted that Mikhailov had a significant impact on him. In 1851, the first story of Mikhailov “Adam Adamych”, which attracted the attention of readers and criticism, was printed in Moskvityanin, and immediately put the author in the ranks of the writers of the “natural school”. Having become popular, he comes closer to the editors of the “Contemporary”, led by Nekrasov, communicates with Turgenev and Grigorovich, who take a lively part in his literary fate. By the veracity of the image of Mikhailov, they compared with the artist P.A. Fedotov, noting that he sees vices and is armed against them with his talent.
