In the work of Arkady and George Weiners, the novel “Loop and Stone in Green Grass” occupies a special place. This work was created in 1974-1975-in the most dull years of stagnation (it was possible to publish it for the first time only in 1990) Weiners dared to combine two maximally forbidden topics in the book: the “bodies” and “Jewish question” remaining without retribution.
The beautiful Sulamiff leads the usual life of the Soviet employee, explores the work of the Jewish poet Byalik, her lover Alyosha, the writer of the middle hand, the son of the once important rank from the omnipotent KGB. Both have their own secrets, their sorrows. The fates of their families are intertwined in the most amazing way. In the novel there is a tragic love story, and a fascinating investigation with chases and discoveries. All these events unfold against the background of gray everyday life, an infinite lies. The ugly reality, albeit in the relatively “vegetarian” time, destroys any living life, everyone who does not fit into miserable Soviet standards in one way or another and wants impermissible - freedom
