"Loneliness and Freedom" (New York: The Publishing House of Chekhov, 1955) is the only lifetime book of the critical prose of G.V. Adamovich (1892-1972) Compiled from an excessive, and partially written articles published in emigrant newspapers and magazines (mainly in the "Last News" and" Modern Notes" in the 1920-1930s, but also in the Russian News and "New Russian Word "), she summed up the literary results of the first wave, caused an interesting polemic in exile, setting the tone and level of conversation and to a large extent determining the post -war literary situation.
