Gabi and Anna, brother and sister, live with parents in Burundi, a small state in East Africa. Their father is a Frenchman, mother is Tutsi, who left his native Rwanda after a terrible massacre that began there. Their relationship has long been cracking, which has become more and more every day. And this cannot hide from the children. But the air itself seems to be saturated with something much more terrible than family troubles. At school, children, quarreling with each other, now and then use the names of the two main nationalities of Burundi, Hutu and Tutsi, like curses. The country of beautiful green hills, blue lakes and high mountains is on the verge of a civil war, which will bring with it destruction, genocide and will forever put an end to the childhood of the main characters
