The new book of the prose writer and screenwriter Alexei Slapovsky consists of a novel and stories and demonstrates the virtuoso skill of the author to tell the stories from which the cinema is obtained. Thus begins the "Otherworld History" of the 18-year-old girl, whose father, a very large official, was caught on a bribe, tried and put in prison. The heroine learns more about his father, about his mother, about their friends and acquaintances, and then leaves, right according to the classics, "to the aunt, in the wilderness, to the Saratov", and there is a new recognition - people from those social layers with which she before did not intersect. In fact, we are talking about peering into myself and the world - as if her eyes opened as if she began to live again, noticing what she had not seen before. "Tree" is also a first -person story. A very middle -aged man walked along the street past the tree, remembered how he climbed into him in childhood. He took and climbed again. And his life after that changed in a fundamental way. "Accident"-a cycle of six stories about people who rode somewhere, hurried, made plans, and here is a massive car accident, and the time seemed to stop-and now what? Is it always bad to get into a similar situation or can it turn life for the better? Or at least another? Thus, the accident is something like the metaphors of the same pandemic that we all encountered
