The translation of King Lear published in this publication, performed by Osia Soroka, was characterized by prominent Russian scientists A.V. Bartoshevich as “the largest event not only in the history of Shakespearean translations, but also in the history of relations between Russian culture and the West " .
Especially for this book on the authorized engineering of the author, the original text of the work was restored. The accompanying materials prepared by Dmitry Ivanov and Sergey Radlov, take into account both the discoveries of Western Shakespeare"s recent years and the classical works of European, American and Russian scientists. The article proposed to the attention of the reader about the sources and editions of the tragedy contains, in particular, the first published Russian translations of a number of texts, which William Shakespeare certainly addressed in the process of work.
