The great Russian artist Kuzma Sergeyevich Petrov-Vodkin (1878-1939) was also an outstanding writer. "Khlynovsk" is the first part of the master’s autobiography, a bright and colorful story about childhood and their hometown on the Volga, about the sources and the beginning of the creative path. What was the awakening to painting? "Uncle Vanya in the pantry got me potted pots with oil paint and a couple of brushes. Here I found a cut of white tin. I painted on it a picture-strife. The brushes were thick to portray them with the leaves of the trees, then I had the idea to use the tributary of a half -worn bristle to portray the crown. On the white trunks, twisting a different color, I portrayed the barrels of birches. "
