"Kenotaf" is a tragic story of two families during the terrible and bloody twenty years of the history of Russia from the mid-1930s to the mid-1950s. Sincerely passionately enthusiastic in his youth by the utopian ideas of communism and international, the heroes of the story in the prime of their talents fall into a terrible meat grinder of terror and war. Their attempts to maintain devotion to the ideals of the revolution collapse in a clash with lawlessness and violence, which they themselves have blown up. However, the devilish regime could not destroy decency in them, did not turn these people into mankurt. With all their weaknesses, the heroes of the story, even on the edge of the death, retain human integrity.
