The book describes the adventures of the native of the USSR Boris Kogan in the old and new light. The main characters get acquainted in their school years, and their student life passes violently and fun: Sasha collects a car, Bori has an affair with a teacher, and Volodya plays in a student theater. Then the paths of friends diverge, they are less common, and Sasha learns about the upcoming emigration of Boris. He throws everything and helps Bore.
Having got into America, Boris with great difficulty gets used to a new life. He does not know what to expect from the next day, and a little more confident begins to feel only when he gets to work.
