Lydia Chukovskaya’s book “In the Laboratory of Editor” was written in the late 1950s and was published in the early 1960s. The author sums up his own editorial work and the work of his colleagues in the editorial office of the Leningrad Detgiz, whose leader was S. Ya. Marshak until 1937. The book had a considerable resonance in literary circles, was widely discussed, and then was forcibly removed from the appeal, since the very name of Lydia Chukovskaya for a long time was banned. According to experts, nothing better in this field has been created. Nowadays, when the ranks of publishers have unusually expanding, the book will be useful and interesting to everyone who is associated with editorial activities. But the name should not narrow the circle of readers. The book teaches the art of the artistic word, its perception, replenishing gaps in the literary and artistic education of readers
