The Russian -speaking Israeli prose writer David Markish is the author of two dozen books in which Russian and Jewish history and culture are inextricably intertwined. The new story "in refusal"-in fact, the author’s story about the truth of the life of those who in the 1960-1970s had to live in the most free country in the world, where a person breathes so freely. Before the reader’s eyes, the bright, sometimes satirical images of the divided societies are held: "Rich-piddle, West-east, left-right, Semites-anti-Semites, fools-humid, and more, and more, and more ...". This beautiful and fierce world, in which there was an eternal war between those who "carried in themselves the spark of Moiseev Fire" from the USSR to the will, and those to whom the right to prohibit it is given by power.
Also, the first autobiographical novel David Markish "Speaker" about the Kazakhstani exile from the trilogy "Light Life of Simon Ashkenazi", first published in 1978 and awarded the British Book League, was included in the collection
