Yuri Polyakov (born in 1954) - modern Russian playwright. His plays and staging are widely placed in Russia, the CIS, as well as abroad. Seven of his performances are in Moscow, many of which have been holding on to the repertoire for decades. So, Homo Erektus has been played in the Satire Theater more than 300 times. Since 2001, the Gorky Moscow Art Theater “Control Shot”, set by Stanislav Govorukhin, has not been left. But the absolute record is a staging of the famous novel “Goat in Milk”, played in the Ruben Simonov Theater at Angollah 560 times!
In November 2015, the first international theater festival “Smoins” was held entirely on Polyakov’s work. This is the only author"s festival of the healthy playwright in the country. For two weeks, twelve performances brought to Moscow from Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov, Penza, Belgorod, Yerevan, St. Petersburg, Kechkemet (Hungary), Kostroma, Chimkent (Kazakhstan), Simferopol ... “in absentia” of Polyakov’s plays were played. At their scenes, within the framework of the festival, fifteen more theaters from Vladikavkaz to Khabarovsk were shown.
In November 2019, “Sidrins” -2 took place, they took place on the stage of the Cherry Orchard theater and once again confirmed the growing interest of the audience in the work of Yuri Polyakova, who in 2018 headed the National Association of playwrights of Russia (above)
