I have to kill Vano. So thinks eighteen-year-old Lela, a former pupil of the Tbilisi boarding school for children with a developmental retardation. She is an adult enough to leave this place where she spent her whole life, but does not leave. Lela remains to take care of abandoned children, and bears a plan of revenge on the teacher of history. What really happens behind the closed doors of the school, near which the pear clearing is spread out? Is violence the only way to release?

A colorful novel in cinematic post -Soviet scenery about abandonment and searching for a friend, about how people are especially cruel to those who can help, about showering prejudices. But this is also a novel that gives hope: both on the awakening of justice in society, and to gain personal happiness. Its author is the famous Georgian director Nana Ekvtimishvili, a representative of the Georgian new wave in cinema.

The book was included in the long list of the International Buker Prize. The translation from Georgian was performed by the theater critic Maya Mamaladze
