The novel takes place in the 1950s in Russia, slightly different from the historical one. The protagonist, Nicodemus, learns from the accidental reservation of his mother that his father was a famous prose writer, which disappeared some time ago under strange circumstances. Nicodemus, obeying the vague feeling, embarks on his wanted list. A series of remarkable incidents and extraordinary persons met on this path is the external plot of the book. The novel written by a philologist and suggesting a certain reader qualification can be interesting to a wide range of lovers of domestic literature
