“To leave and not to return” is penetrating stories about the post -war period in the Korea of the 1950s of the writer Lee Lee, who personally passed the war and reflected his experiences through short stories. Each story will tell about the life of people who experience a difficult post -war time: here is the everyday life and tragedy, life and war, death and life, superstition and pragmatism. People who are forced to live in a new country, divided into 38th parallel, live this time in their own way, finding comfort in memories, superstitions and everyday life. Each story of the collection represents the history of one or more human destinies. Talking about them, the writer with everyday sincerity conveys the feeling of a new reality of the whole people, by the will of the war divided in two. There is a painful expectation of relatives from the front, and love for his brother, and care for the neighbor, and the fear of unknown, and loneliness, and wine.
