A passage from the book
Park Avenue, cold March evening. I got stuck in a cork in a taxi on the way to a pathos party. From nothing to do, I look out the window and see a woman 50 meters from me, disheveled and dressed in rags. She dugs in the garbage tank. I know this woman.
I am covered by fear. If she turns out and hails me, she will give out my secret. I command the taxi driver to turn around and go back. The rest of the evening I feel shame, shakes me.
That woman is my mother.
About the book
Secrets generate shame. And shame, in turn, gives rise to barriers that prevent us from accepting and falling in love with ourselves, using all our potential, and open to other people. ” - Oprah Winfrey O Jannett Walls
