The British well done and the cunning Sir Harry Flashman dreams of a political career. Why not take a warm place in the House of Commons? Everyone around is convinced by the old Flash, that there is the place to him. But the circumstances are so lousy that you need to hastily leave London, England, and indeed Europe.
Flashmen are waiting for the terrible jungle of Africa, where the wild Amazons are ready to poke a spear to the side of all white, dreaming of black slaves. The flashman-worker itself turns into a slave. The black -made bake is only a small fraction of that punishment of heaven that awaits a cheerful wretch in his next battle for life.
The American South will be even less hospitable. Fierce planters, secret societies and even a lanky Mr. Lincoln, who sees people through - everyone is unhappy with the flashman, everyone wants something from him. The spent poor fellow changes the larvae like gloves, thinking only about one thing - to survive at all costs and return home to take revenge.
George Fraser (1926-2008) was born in the city of Carlisle. At 18, he entered the army and went to serve in India. He participated in the hostilities on Burma during the Second World War. He became a correspondent when he returned from the front. His writer"s career began. In 1969, the first novel about Harry Flashmen was released.
