In the new novel of the St. Petersburg writer Vasily Ivanovich Aksenov, as in other books of this wonderful prose writer, the small Siberian village of Yalan remains the center of the universe. And wherever the hero turns out to be: at excavations in the old Ladoga or in Leningrad 1980 (and the main action of the novel occurs there and then) - his thoughts and feelings are directed into his native Yalan.
