In the novel Fish Blood (1985), the action takes place in Paris in 1942. Konstantin von Meck, a German director who spent most of his career in Hollywood, makes a film for the Nazis of the film studio. He is ironically treated with compatriots and those who protest against the cruelty of the police are trying to save two Jews working on the set, rebelled against the use of torture, but, in principle, does not condemn neither Nazi Germany, nor those who cooperate with the new government. Lovelas, a talented director, he loves life and women - especially a beautiful vanda. Only a cruel shock can make this person with a fish take a look in the face of facts
