The phantasmagoric story of the friendship of a Jerusalem boy born in a religious family shortly before the proclamation of the Israeli state, with an adult, an eccentric and a prospector, dreaming of the salvation of mankind from the hunger of the “food army” created by him and gradually immersed in madness. Other friends of an unusual child are almost as colorful: a couple of enthusiastic fans of the Austro-Hungarian emperor Franz Joseph, an old burialist, zealous vegans, convinced Esperantists and other characters. The narrative begins and ends on the African coast of the Suez Canal, where the lyrical hero finds himself immediately after the October War of 1973, known in Israel as a war day, but the main events of the novel are unfolding in Jerusalem in the early fifties. And since many storylines go their roots into the remote past, the reader gets the opportunity to plunge into the atmosphere of Jerusalem of the 19th and first half of the 20th century, touching some important nodes of the latest Jewish history
