A fair in an almshouse "is a picture of people"s life in a nursing home, a story about their joys, sorrows, their hopes and loneliness. Every third Sunday of August, a fair is arranged in an almshouse, for the elderly this is a serious event, and not the case of laughing at the tables lying on the tables and crafts attracting crowds of urban residents. The goods at the fair remind of the disappearing America, they are bought by dodging, then to sell old people to lovers. The director of the nursing home wants to make the life of his wards better, but is the current achievements of civilization enough so that the old people really feel happy?
