The case described in the novel of the Slovak poet, playwright and screenwriter Dushan Mitana (born 1946), akin to the story from the novel by F. M. Dostoevsky "Crime and Punishment", whose action was transferred to modernity. Criminal intrigue is an occasion for the author to conduct another investigation: to establish the causes and limits of a person’s moral fall. Mitana"s work is characterized by irony, grotesque, black humor, as well as virtuoso balancing on the verge of real and surreal. The book includes the essay "Crime without punishment" (1988) of the musicologist, literary critic Svyatoslav Belza, where he gives a detailed ideological and artistic analysis of the novel. The publication is addressed to all those interested in modern Slovak literature
