And then I decided to sit down for the novel, which in 1997 published Harper Collins, he was called "Tylisne Jones" testimonies." The book received three awards, one of them is the prize of the Somerset Maugham. And a couple of years later, the novel was filmed, Jonathan Price played the main role. It was already a solid success. I became a writer. And he set about the second novel "Jesus and advertisers", which came out in 1999. And then after that I quit and became the writer at full rate. But the third novel did not go. Surrounded by failure, I switched to scripts, which I did for several years for the BBC. For two seasons, I was the main screenwriter of the "silent witness" and almost went crazy with this work. The army of salvation saved me - they suggested writing a documentary book about AIDS pandemic. I agreed and, together with my wife and two children, went on a nine -month journey. Africa, India, China. During the trip, I collected material for the book, and at the same time made reports for radio-4. In 2007, we returned home, and I returned to the scenarios, but I began to visit my thoughts about the novel again. I always wanted to write a book about the post -war period - based on the history of my own grandfather, who served after the war in Germany. But first I took up the script of a documentary on this topic, but gradually everything flowed into the novel
