Two from four plays published in the book, written by a prose writer and film-pointed by Friedrich Gorenstein (1932-2002), have a different fate. The “debate about Dostoevsky” were written in Moscow in 1973, the play was never put on the stage, the drama of the “Reeton”, completed by the author in 1985 in Berlin, in exile, successfully walked in the early 90s in five Russian theaters. Drama for Frederick Gorenstein is a natural continuation of his prose, since in his stories and novels the most important means of expressiveness is precisely the authentic speech of the heroes. This is the case with the play "Readun", where the heroes speak a language that is close to the Russian speech of the times of Peter the Great. Why, and not, for example, the story, the “debate about Dostoevsky”, to some extent, is clear from the name: we have a dispute: before us, there is a dispute, and a dispute not only about Dostoevsky’s works, but also about the interpretations of his work within the framework of the dogmatic Soviet aesthetics. Reading Gorenstein"s plays, which had the gift of penetration into history and the gift of getting into the nerve of time, is no less exciting than reading his novels and novels.
