The novel of the famous Hungarian prose writer and playwright Drydy Shpiro was built as fictitious memories of linden - Olympics Dmitrievna Chertkova (1878-1951), witnesses to Gorky"s life for decades, nurses and his last beloved woman (Devilolin - her Italian nickname obtained in Sorrento) The successfully found form allowed to show the world -famous writer through the eyes of a person close to him from the inside of his crowded house, in which, along with households, mistresses and recovery, famous cultural figures and historical faces appear from Savva Morozov and Lenin to Zinoviev, Stalin and Berries. Gorky, seen by the eyes of Spiro, a figure worthy of regret, but still tragic: a person who believed that with his authority it is possible to compromise with the authorities, to replay it
