France of the first half of the 17th century is the era of Louis XIII and Cardinal Richelieu. The town of Luden, in which the nuns of the Ursuli monastery suddenly go crazy. The Catholic priest Urben Grandier is accused of the spiritual and sexual seduction of the sisters.
