Unlike his namesake, Darius is not at all great. He is half the Persian, but he lived in Portland all his life. At an early age, Darius was diagnosed with clinical depression, and, despite treatment, it is still difficult for him to find a common language with peers. Upon learning that his grandfather is seriously ill, Darius and his family first go to Iran. There he meets a neighbor"s boy Sukhrab, friendship with which he changes his life forever
