For the first time in the literature, the biography of the conformist, its formation and the reasons, as a result of which a person becomes a conformist, is described. The novel by Sergey Karamov begins with the youth of the protagonist - Fedi Yagnkov, who is full of energy, strength, dreams of changing the world and living very well. However, circumstances do not work out for him: parents die, Fedya is left alone. The blows of fate are pouring on it, as if experiencing strength. And little by little, Fedya is inclined to the idea that still his father was right when he advised to live, like everyone else, to adapt to circumstances, to be a conformist, as he lived his years. Small Fedya sometimes visits a certain creature, calling himself an angel and can foresee events. Each of us seems to have our own angel, and Fedya here is no exception to the general rule. Conversations with the angel help Fedya, have great educational significance, but over time Fedya ceases to listen to the advice of a good and attentive angel, but in vain! By negligence, Fedya somehow accidentally gets acquainted with the ugly daughter of the mayor of the city of Zamanilovka - Lidochka. He neglects the advice of the angel not to get acquainted with Lidochka and not spend time with her - the angel predicts the marriage of Fedi in Lidochka, which happened in the future. The mayor, in joy, appoints Fedya’s factory for real estate and investment - a gold, warm place, which Fedya is very happy. But he is not happy with his ugly wife Lidochka, whom he is forced to endure due to the high position of daddy-mayor. There is no joy in Fedi’s life, he only rejoices in the new bribes received at work. Fedi has a radical change in thinking, he becomes a real conformist, like his father! And Fedya often begins to recall the instructions of his father.
Fedya will quarrel with the angel - he was tired of the advice and teachings of the angel - so the angel ceases to meet with our hero. So Fedya loses his good adviser in life, but does not grieve about it. However, Fedya is very worried when he loses his post after the appointment of a new mayor. The novel ends with a meeting of Fedor Yagnkov with himself: Fedor recognizes himself in the boy who appeared next to the boy! He recalls his dreams, he becomes very sad. And Fedor concludes: "Yes, Fedechka, amoeba you are silent, who did not become a tiger! The fiasco of your life is obvious. You have just met yourself in your youth. And what have you achieved? Alas. And as he dreamed in childhood! .. The failed license lodge. I forgot the romantic world, forgot all youthful dreams! .. Do not lean out, do not chat, like everyone else. And you will die quietly, without creating anything in this life! There was a lamb, and you will stay. And on your grave there will be an inscription: "Amoeba Silent Yagnnkov." No, another inscription: "conformist Fedor Yagnenkov"! Thus, the novel is an artistic encyclopedia of conformism. The author for the first time in world literature revealed and ridiculed the deep essence of conformism, analyzed those hidden springs that encourage a person to adapt to society. He scrupulously described his hero Fedor Yagnkov, who became a conformist. The novel represents a kind of artistic encyclopedia of conformism, and Fedor Yagnnkov (by the way, this name is not accidental in this hero), as we believe, it can become a household character, like famous literary heroes - Schweik, Ostap Bender or Plyushkin
