In that III, the novel "Jacob Staircase" is included. The novel consists of stories and diary entries about events full of drama, adventure and hard overcoming in the life of a shelter, young men - a handbag, a loader, a stoker, a mason, a student - and a mature husband - a teacher, leader and a scientist. This is a novel about love, uniting people, about the courage of those who love.
When you are very young, you can easily believe in the immortality of the soul and in your own unlimited possibilities. If something does not dance today, it doesn’t matter: tomorrow it will work out. Well, if not tomorrow, then - the day after tomorrow. Sooner or later, it will turn out anyway: after all, you are stubborn and sinewy.
If you love, you can overcome everything, the author believes. And you have life ahead of you. All your life! Long and must be interesting.
And when the evening of your life comes and the circle of your affairs is sharply narrowed, the energy of love accumulated in young and mature years, still nourishes you and supports your weakening organism
