Later the family moved to Belarus. She graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of the Belarusian State University. She worked in the Minsk rural newspaper, in the magazine Neman.
For several decades, she wrote the documentary and artistic chronicle of the Voice of Utopia - five books in which the little man himself talks about his fate. In fact, I created its own genre - a polyphonic novel -approval, in which a big story is made up of small stories. Since the beginning of the 2000s, she lived in Italy, France, Germany, Sweden. In 2012, she returned to Belarus.
The works of Svetlana Aleksievich were translated into 35 languages, served as the basis for hundreds of films, performances and radio feeds around the world and were awarded many international awards.
